Principle's Message

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year. The Sunset staff has been steadily preparing for the beginning of school and getting ready to welcome each of your children to an exciting year of learning.

As the principal of Sunset, my goal is to make sure that each child is safe and is given every possible opportunity to learn to his/her fullest potential in a comfortable and enjoyable environment. As a parent of four children and a thirty year resident of the valley, I truly understand the desire of our parents to want the best for their most precious gift, their children. It is my belief that the best way to educate our children is for everyone to join together in this effort. Every parent is an important part of the Sunset community and can do their part in creating a nurturing and challenging school experience. First of all, please prepare your child by having him/her be a part of the process. Discuss the beginning of school with them, the importance of attending school daily, following the character traits, and putting forth effort to do their very best. If sleeping in has been a summer luxury, start having your child go to bed earlier and rise earlier. Get all first day school items ready, backpack, lunch box or lunch money (breakfast $1.50, lunch $2.25), pencil, paper, etc. Additionally, make sure to post calendars that will be sent home during the first week of school and do your best to attend school functions.

With your parental guidance and our professional expertise we will make this the best year ever.
